Cu Leone was born from our long-term passion for Leonbergers and Irish Wolfhounds.  We are a small family kennel, located in beautiful San Diego, California.  Our mission is to breed limited numbers of Leonbergers and Irish Wolfhounds with a strong goal towards producing healthy and happy dogs that continually grow closer towards approaching the never completely attainable breed conformation standard.

We allow no concessions in health.  All animals are tested before breeding for every currently known congenital and/or herditary problem in their breed.  Any dog that fails to test normal is immediately pulled from our breeding program.  We share information with others about health concerns with our dogs and always encourage others to do the same.  It is only through the sharing of information that health concerns that might crop up in breeds can be detected.

Our dogs are first and foremost our pets.  As such, correct breed temperment is crucial in breeding our dogs.  Both Leonbergers and Irish Wolfhounds are gentle and loving go anywhere, do anything companions, exhibiting a great degree of flexibility.  Neither breed should exhibit shyness.

A great responsibility comes with owning either one of these magnificent breeds.  We have an even greater responsibility in breeding them.
