We guarantee to deliver a purebred puppy that is eligible for registration with the AKC as well as its individual breed parent clubs -- Leonberger Club of America (LCA) and Irish Wolfhound Club of America (IWCA).
Ownership of a Leonberger or Irish Wolfhound is a privilege and tremendous responsibility. As breeders we are committed to making sure that every puppy we place will be in a loving forever home. Puppies will remain with the breeder until at least 11 weeks of age. From birth until placement, we will study the characters of each puppy and make every attempt to match puppy personality with the best home environment.
All puppies will receive their first set of puppy shots and deworming and be evaluated for any health problems prior to placement. In the case of Leonbergers, your puppy will receive its tattoo. In the case of Irish Wolfhounds, the possibility of a liver shunt will be ruled out by a licensed veterinarian. All puppies will be delivered to their new forever homes in healthy condition.
Should for whatever reason, you are no longer able to adequately care for the dog you purchased from us, it should be returned to us.
If we should discover a congenital or hereditary problem cropping up in our breeding lines after the purchase of your puppy, we will advise you of the problem.
Neither Leonbergers nor Irish Wolfhounds are backyard dogs. They are happiest by their owners' sides all the time. Your dog must not be involuntarily kept outside for extended periods of time. Your dog must not be tethered to anything but a walking leash when going for walks out in public.
Both Leonbergers and Irish Wolfhounds are very fast growing and powerful dogs. Early training in basic obedience commands is a must to insure that your dog grow up with manners. All puppy owners must enroll in and attend Puppy Kindergarten and at least one class in basic obedience. Ideally, all puppies should train, test for, and earn their AKC Canine Good Citizenship certificates.
It is expected that you will seek standard care for your dog by a licensed veterinarian. Vaccinations should be kept current. You will provide your dog with a proper diet and exercise program to insure sensible weight gain and maintenance for its size and age. Routine care will be given to maintain the health of the dog's coat, nails, teeth and ears. You shall maintain protection for your dog from fleas and other parasites.
Your dog shall never be permitted to roam at large and should be kept in a manner to prevent it from being teased or abused by anyone.
Owner will maintain regular communication with us regarding the progress of our puppies as they mature. Results of all health tests should be forwarded to us.
Unless a health condition arises making it necessary to spay/neuter your puppy early, no puppy should be spayed or neutered prior to 18 months of age (ideally 24 months). Every precaution should be taken to isolate a female in season so that accidental breedings don't occur.
Expose your puppy to many different kinds of social situations, people, and other dogs as possible while its still very young. We want your puppy to mature into a happy, well-rounded, confident and outstanding representative of his or her breed. At the same time, we expect you to grow into an outstanding and enthusiastic ambassador for Leonbergers and/or Irish Wolfhounds.
Above all, we expect you to love, protect and enjoy your dog (our puppy) throughout its life.
Dogs are dynamic animals and as such we provide no guarantees as to the long-term health of your puppy nor how it might mature. Considerable thought, planning and expense is put into every breeding with the hopes of producing dogs with proper and stable temperment and conformational soundness. We cannot guarantee your dog's success in a show ring or any performance event.
All of our puppies are sold as family companions. We want to place them in wonderful family homes that will love them throughout their lives. If you choose to show your dog, we'll be the first ones to celebrate your victories but if you choose not to show your dog, that's okay too. We want our puppies to be loved regardless of how well they do in a show ring.
At 11 weeks old, we can make educated guesses based on experience as to which puppies might mature into show prospects but we can't guarantee that your puppy will mature with the correct conformation, temperment, and attitude to be successful in a show ring. Therefore, we do not differentiate between "show quality" and "companion animal" when we sell our puppies. Additionally, we will always maintain the right to "first pick of the litter" for ourselves.
